Nuquanna Zimmerman, LGPC
Practicing Since: 2021
Nuquanna likes to think of herself as a beam of light. A beam of light can be defined as a directional projection of light energy radiating from a light source. Nuquanna uses her life experiences, knowledge, and various available resources to help people. Sometimes people can’t find their way because they have been in a dark place, and Nuquanna likes to help people turn on their light. Nuquanna incorporates a person-centered therapy style where she can help uncover what clients like, what they need, what interests them, and how to remove the clutter. Nuquanna believes even if you have a life-long mental illness, you can still be a light and radiate your greatest self.
Nuquanna compares mental health to being much like a coloring book. We are born with different pages of our life and reflect all different designs. If we have the proper tools as we grow, we have beautifully colored pages. That’s not to say that there won’t be any imperfections, but Nuquanna believes you can acquire the tools to be healthy despite those imperfections. When we don’t have the proper tools, our “pages” can be distorted, lack color, or we can have incomplete pages. This is where the unhealthy mind develops. Therapy is to help you to heal the imperfections or embrace your uniqueness. Therapy helps you get the tools you need to have “better colored pages.”
Because of Nuquanna’s previous business experience working directly with the public in property management for almost 15 years, she has enjoyed meeting new people, finding out where there from, and what they are about. Her passion is helping people and service is her love language. Her previous experience has given her the opportunity to be immersed in the world of people from all different cultures and ethnicities.
Nuquanna completed her undergrad studies in business with a minor in biblical studies and is currently in her final stage of her masters program for professional counseling, with a concentration in clinical mental health.
In her spare time, Nuquanna loves to spend time with family and friends. She enjoys crocheting, writing, and mushy romantic movies. She also enjoys festivals and baking. Her favorite color is green.
Nuquanna Zimmerman is licensed as an LGPC under the supervision of Matthew Piercey, LCPC (Maryland license #LC9076).
