Dr. Chigozie Achebe, Ed.D., LGPC

Dr. Achebe’s goal is to build a trusting environment for her clients so they feel a sense of safety and support as they share and confront their problems and issues. Dr. Achebe believes it is important to develop rapport with the client by meeting them where they are before addressing their problem. She provides counseling to individual adults, adolescents, and groups with anxiety and depression disorders. Dr. Achebe’s counseling style is engaging, holistic and integrative; some of the techniques she likes to use are cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), client-centered, psychodynamic, and solution-focused.
Dr. Achebe’s view of mental health and the therapeutic process is based on her cultural awareness and competency, as well as her therapeutic relationship with clients. As a professional counselor, she is passionate and committed to practicing in a competent and ethical manner, addressing her client’s mental wellness, education level, spiritual insight, and career goals.
In addition to her LGPC license, Dr. Achebe completed both doctoral and master’s degrees in Adult Continuing Education. She has taught at both secondary and postsecondary levels and advocated for others through community activism and social justice/entrepreneurship. Dr. Achebe completed her Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Capital Seminary and Graduate School, a division of Lancaster Bible College. She enjoys traveling, shopping, and spending time with her family.
Dr. Achebe is licensed in the state of Maryland (#LGP13113) and currently is under the clinical supervision of Shon Miller, LCPC (Maryland #LC5433).
